US celebrities like Miranda Kerr, Gwyneth Paltrow or Oprah Winfrey now swear by this food. It's even part of their daily diet. Not least because the chia seeds are very versatile, but because they should also help you lose weight.

And the great thing is that you can use it to prepare countless vegan recipes, which should surely suit the many health-conscious women. The seeds also have a neutral taste. So they can be used for many dishes without changing their aroma. But what is it really about this miracle seed from Mexico?

Ingredients of the chia seeds

Chia seeds are not a newly discovered food, because in Mexico people have known about the positive effects of these seeds for several hundred years. These should have a positive effect on our organism in many ways. They not only support him in losing weight, they also strengthen the immune system, improve the complexion and even delay the aging process. So it has to be a true miracle cure from nature.

In order to be able to understand these extraordinarily many positive properties, you should simply take a look at the ingredients of the seeds: First of all, they have a very high content of protein, i.e. protein, with which other types of grain or seeds cannot keep up. It also contains a high amount of calcium, even more than in milk. Then there are valuable omega fatty acids, boron, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin D, vitamin K, antioxidants and iron.

Why are chia seeds so healthy?

After taking a look at the ingredients, it should actually be clear why the chia seeds are so healthy. Nevertheless, we would like to take a closer look at the importance of some special ingredients.

➤ Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids:

Our body needs essential fatty acids, but the organism cannot produce omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids itself. Fish would be number 1 in terms of food, but not everyone likes it. Chia seeds are a perfect alternative. They even have a much higher content of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids than fish. Even the salmon can't keep up.

And that's exactly what our bodies need. On the one hand to ensure a balanced blood pressure and on the other hand to protect against heart diseases. Chia seeds also help to repair damaged tissue, prevent diabetes and remove harmful bacteria from the gastrointestinal tract.

When it comes to anti-aging remedies, most people will pay attention. The antioxidants contained in it are responsible for the anti-aging effect of the chia seed. These protect our cells from external influences (such as UV radiation), which accelerate skin aging. Chia seeds help you lose weight

To do this, the seeds must simply be soaked in water before use so that the so-called chia gel is formed (see picture). Because of the consistency, the gelled seeds fill the stomach for a very long time. In addition, the conversion of carbohydrates into sugar is slowed down. In this way, the energy in the body is retained for longer, which primarily benefits athletes.

You should prefer the chia seeds indoors in spring (reading tip: sowing seeds - 4 easy ways presented). Single grain sowing is optimal. You should only cover the seeds with a little soil and keep them moist afterwards. You should definitely avoid waterlogging!

2 Step 2:

Once the plants have reached a size of about 5 centimeters, you can plant them in the garden. The location should be sunny to partially shaded.

You can also convert the chia plantlets into tubs. However, you should then make sure that there is never waterlogging in the bucket.

3 Step 3:

Now it is time to wait. The chia plants will bloom beautifully in September. In autumn (September to November) you can then harvest the seeds.
