If you live for rent, you must obtain your landlord's permission before installation.
Instructions for installing an articulated arm awning on the balcony
1 Step 1 - Preparations before assembly:
An awning can weigh up to 80 kilograms, which is why, in addition to stable anchoring, a helper is required for assembly.
If you have outside lighting on the balcony, you must also check the routing of the power line so that you do not damage it during installation. For safety reasons, you should switch off the power completely before drilling.
2 Step 2 - Determine the height for assembly:
Since an awning should never be attached directly to the facade, these are always supplied with mounting plates. So you first have to determine the ideal height for attaching the brackets. To ensure that these are on a horizontal line, you should definitely use a spirit level.
3 Step 3 - Mark & drill holes:
Once you have determined the correct height, you must mark the drilling points through the mounting plates with a pen on the house wall. Then drill the holes with the drill.
➥ Step 4 - screw the mounting plates to the facade:
After drilling, you should inject mortar into the holes before inserting the dowels, as this ensures more hold. Threaded rods, which are often included in the scope of delivery, are usually used as a holder. As soon as the mortar is completely solid, you can screw the mounting plates to the facade.
If the house wall is not completely level, washers can compensate them a little, because the mounting plates must also be exactly the same in depth.
5 Step 5 - screw the awning to the mounting plates:
Now you and your helper must insert the awning into the mounting plate brackets. If it is seated correctly, fix it with screws and nuts.
6 Step 6 - Set the angle of the awning:
After you have firmly screwed the awning to all brackets, you can still adjust the angle of the awning. However, this must be done equally on both arms.
