Time leaves its mark - including on the wall of the house, because moss often spreads here. Our tips show you how to remove this from the house wall.Pressure washers remove moss very well
It's just everywhere: on the lawn, on the garden paths, on the terrace and on the roof of the house (reading tip: remove moss on the terrace and sidewalk - 4 tips). Unfortunately for many homeowners, the moss does not stop at the walls of the house. As a rule, only the walls that are in the shade for most of the day are affected. But trees and shrubs in the immediate vicinity of the house can also lead to this problem. At the beginning you can see a light green discoloration on the wall of the house, which gets darker over time. If the plaster is also porous, the moss can spread even in fine cracks.
Smaller moss stains on the wall are certainly not a broken leg, but if the braid expands, the appearance will be severely impaired. As soon as you have identified moss on the house facade, it is always important to find out the cause first. If moisture is the reason, you should urgently think about a renovation, otherwise moisture can also penetrate inside and promote the development of mold there. Otherwise you can fight the moss on the wall with our tips.
Tips for effective moss removal
➤ Tip 1 - Use a high pressure cleaner:
When removing, you must always consider the material. Removing the moss on the house wall is very easy, for example with a high-pressure cleaner. Always radiate the wall from top to bottom, because this way the moss doesn't fly around everywhere. You can then apply an algicide to prevent the moss from forming again. Read what it is and how it is used in the next tip.

With plastered facades, you should definitely not use a high-pressure cleaner, as this could crumble. However, the use of a high-pressure cleaner is highly recommended for cladding cladding.
➤ Tip 2 - use algicide:Façade cleaner from Kärcher
If the high-pressure cleaner does not achieve good results, you can also remove the moss with a so-called algicide (available here, for example). It not only kills algae, but also moss. It even makes mold. How to use the algicide correctly:
Soak the affected areas on the house wall with a little water.
Then take a brush with nylon bristles and clean the wall thoroughly.
Only then should you apply the algicide according to the instructions on the packaging.
After the specified exposure time, you must then work the wall again with a brush and clear water.
➤ Tip 3 - use potassium permanganate:Potassium permanganate also helps
Potassium permanganate is actually a wound disinfectant (available from a pharmacy), but you can also use it to fight moss, as it will oxidize and the moss will die. How to use potassium permanganate correctly:
They needed a large pot that could hold at least five liters of water. While boiling water in it, mix 500 grams of cornstarch into a porridge.
When the water boils, remove the saucepan from the heat and add about 100 grams of soda, 8 grams of potassium permanganate, and the cornstarch porridge. Then bring the liquid to the boil, stirring constantly.
Do not put too much potassium permanganate in the mass, because the agent can stain strongly. In the case of very bright facades, it is better to mix the mixture without potassium permanganate and apply it to the house wall. It is still very effective.
Pour the mass into a bucket and then use it to scrub the wall of the house. Let the mixture work for at least four hours.
Take a pressure washer after the exposure time and use it to spray the wall of the house. Alternatively, the garden hose works if you set the jet as hard as possible.
