Have you ever heard that you can “bend” a flower? This is possible with the articulated flower. Read more about it here.

Very pretty: the articulated flower

The rose flower blooming in red, pink and white has a very special peculiarity, which gives it its name. You can bend their flowers individually, keeping the desired position. The result is a perfect flowering structure that can hardly be achieved with any other perennial. The articulated flower is also suitable for planting in the Mediterranean garden, since it is very well tolerated by lavender plants. How this flower is being planted and how to properly care for the articulated flower can be read in this article.

Plant articulated flower

One advantage of the perennial articulated flower is that you can plant the plant in the garden bed practically throughout the garden season (from March to October). You should choose a sunny to light partially shaded location in soil that is as nutrient-rich as possible, always slightly moist and permeable.

Caution:

Choose the location wisely. The articulated flower spreads generously by itself. If you want to prevent this, you need to remove the flower spikes before seed formation. The flower panicles are then suitable for vase cutting.

Caring for the articulated flower properly

➤ Promote flower formation:

From July to September, your articulated flower, which can reach a stature height of up to 120 centimeters, will delight you with a lavish floral display. However, you should then remove withered parts of the flower immediately so that the panicle can form new flowers immediately.

➤ Pour:

Water the articulated flower regularly during the season as it loves a slightly humid environment.

➤ Cut back:

A complete pruning of the perennial should be carried out every year in autumn so that it can sprout again fresh in spring.

➤ Fertilize:

It is best to supply the articulated flower with compost in early spring, as this clearly promotes its growth and abundance of flowers. A further application of fertilizer is only necessary if necessary.

Combat diseases:

Every now and then the plant is attacked by a wide variety of mold spores, which can usually be quickly removed using natural spray. Otherwise, you can also use a small amount of chemical spray.

➤ Multiplication:

You can multiply or divide the hardy articulated flower approximately every 2 years (ideally always after the flowering phase). To do this, you should carefully divide the plant with a spade and then re-plant it in a new location.
